1. What does the 41Cr4 designation mean?
- 41: Indicates a medium carbon content (approx. 0.41%), ensuring good hardness after heat treatment while maintaining excellent machinability.
- Cr4: Indicates alloying with chromium (approx. 1%). Chromium is the essential element increasing deep hardenability and resistance to mechanical wear.

Hardness (HBW): The hardness of soft annealed (+A) steel is approx. 241 HBW, and treated for improved shearability (+S) is approx. 255 HBW.
